Meet Mike

15 Years of Professional Writing, Editing, and Training

Since publishing my first paid article in Time Out Istanbul in 2006 and earning a master's degree in publishing and writing at Emerson College, I've contributed pieces to local, national, and international publications like CNN, USA Today, Forbes, Fodor’s, PBS, Metro (NYC edition), Huffington Post, American Way, DuJour, Travel Weekly, Tablet, Time Out, Beer Advocate, Virtuoso Life, and NYC Monthly, among many others. I have also written content for numerous companies like Geico, Groupon, Hain Celstial, Allstate, Planters, and Caesars Palace.

As an educator, my career goes back even further, teaching English as a second language for more than a decade before taking up journalism. At Gotham Writers Workshop in New York City, I've taught article writing, travel writing, creative nonfiction, and self-editing since 2015. In 2019, I also taught Fundementals of Journalism at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.

As editor in chief of The Bridge newspaper and managing editor of FlyWashington, Air Chicago, and LAX magazines, I regularly recruited and trained new writers, along with managing a pool of freelance and vounteer contributors.

All told, I have worked with storytellers of nearly all backgrounds, ages, experiences, and English proficiencies.

In short, wherever you are on your writing journey, I've been there, too, and will help you take the next step.
